BILL CULP TO PORTRAY CARL PERKINS IN NEW SHOW
October 15, 2006-

Since returning from recording at the famed Sun Studio in Memphis, Tennessee earlier this year, Bill Culp is poised to portray a legendary Sun performer in a new musical. Based on the story of Sun Records and featuring music from Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash and Jerry Lee Lewis, Culp will portray Carl Perkins in an exciting two-act musical play called "Good Rockin' Tonight". Best known for his song "Blue Suede Shoes", which was the first record to become a Top Ten hit on the Blues, Country and Pop charts simultaneously, Perkins was potentially considered to be "the next Elvis" until sidelined by a car accident on his way to a taping of the Perry Como show.

Culp will portray Perkins and perform several hits from Carl's song catalogue including "Matchbox", "Honey Don't" and "Blue Suede Shoes". During the second act, which features a re-creation of a 1956 "Louisiana Hayride" radio broadcast, Culp will also perform hits from other Sun artists including "Red Hot" by Billy Lee Riley, and "Break Up" by Charlie Rich.

Bill notes "I've always loved these songs, and I truly believe the Sun Records story is an important part of our musical history".

The play debuts the first of three shows on Sunday October 15 at the Port Mansion Dinner Theatre in St. Catharines, Ontario before moving on to other venues around the province. Tickets are available on-line by visiting www.portmansion.com
BILL CULP RECORDS AT SUN STUDIO IN MEMPHIS
April 1, 2006-

Canadian roots artist Bill Culp has just completed recording of a new song at the legendary Sun Studio in Memphis, Tennessee, USA. "The song itself is a somewhat obscure number by Carl, but it's a great song that combines a pop sensibility with a true rockabilly feel. I tried to capture some of that 'Carl' magic on my version" notes Culp, who expects to add the song to his next album scheduled for delivery in late 2006.

The Sun Studio was launched by Sam Phillips in the 1950's and helped to launch the careers of many rock & roll pioneers including Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Roy Orbison, Carl Pekins and Johnny Cash. With the studio playing a prominent role in the recent Cash film "Walk the Line", the Sun Studio is riding a renewed wave of popularity amongst all ages.
